These days, most chartered accountants and other tax service providers file the returns of their clients electronically. There are also service providers such as www.myitreturn.com, www.taxspanner.com that provide email-based tax filing services. All you have to do is to send your form and relevant details by email and the tax portal will file the return on your behalf. Also, there are companies, like H&R Block, which offer electronic filing services to their clients who either walk into their offices or avail of the email-based tax filing service.

ET reports, there are registered e-return intermediaries of the income tax department (most of them would be chartered accountants and TRPs) who offer e-filing services to taxpayers. "Typically, a taxpayer would visit the service provider's office with all his tax information and related documents, after the service provider prepares the return, the tax payer will review the same and then the service providers will e-file the return. Many of such service providers would also offer e-mail/phone-based tax preparation and filing services," says Vaibhav Sankla, Director, H&R Block, India, as told to ET.
