Bangalore: The deadline for filing tax return has been extended by a month to 31st August. If you struggled to file your IT returns online in the original deadline of July, and you still haven’t filed it yet then you can make your work simpler by taking some professional help. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has made it mandatory to file tax returns online, if your annual salary is 10 lakhs and above. Like most individuals if you too find the tax jargons and the process of filing the returns online difficult to understand then, resolve your queries with the tax experts, reports Vidyalaxmi from ET Bureau.

Tax Return Preparers or TRPs

The Tax Return Preparers are self-employed graduates, trained by the department for filing of returns as well as quarterly TDS statements. The TRP scheme is an initiative of the Income Tax Department to provide expert services at door-steps in Bangalore, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Patna to help you file your IT returns. Also the IT department has started 'Online Tax Help' to provide professional services to resolve your tax-filing related queries by tax experts through email or phone within 24 hours.

To avail these facilities, you will have to visit the website 'www.trpscheme.com'. Under the 'Register for Home Visit' initiative, Tax Return Preparer (TRP) will visit the residence of the assessee to provide assistance in return filing. When you choose to register in home visit, you will be asked to indicate in short the help required and a convenient date and time when the TRP can visit you for assistance. The help desk will forward your queries to the nearest available TRP and fix the appointment telephonically.
