SBI Recognized as World's Best Consumer Bank 2025 by Global Finance

State Bank of India (SBI) has been honored with two major accolades by Global Finance, World’s Best Consumer Bank 2025 and Best Bank in India 2025. The awards were announced at the Global Finance Award Ceremony during the World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings 2025 in New York.
SBI said these recognitions underscore its commitment to innovation, financial inclusion, and world-class customer service. The bank’s leadership in technology and extensive reach across India’s diverse regions were key factors in winning the awards.
Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, SBI Group Chairman, said, “Serving 520 million customers and adding 65,000 daily requires continuous investment in technology. As a ‘Digital First, Consumer First’ bank, our mobile platform YONO already serves over 100 million users, with 10 million active daily”.
SBI is India’s largest commercial bank by assets, deposits, branches, and customers. Its home loan portfolio exceeds Rs 8.5 lakh crore, helping around 30 lakh families realize their home-buying dreams. The bank operates 22,980 branches, 62,200 ATMs/ADWMs, and more than 76,800 BC outlets nationwide. Internet banking reaches over 14.2 crore customers, while YONO has 9.04 crore registered users and added 27.4 lakh registrations in Q1 FY26.

The bank’s digital initiatives are paying off, 66% of new savings accounts in Q1 FY26 were opened through YONO, and pre-approved personal loans worth Rs 1,791 crore were disbursed via the platform. These achievements highlight SBI’s growing influence as a trusted, technologically advanced financial institution both in India and globally.
