Investment Options for NRIs in India

How to go about investing in India?

The first step you must take is having a word with the Ministry people of Overseas Indian Affairs. They will inform you better about all the aspects of Indian economy and where and how your investment will be welcome in India.

If you are eligible enough to invest then you can also invest in stocks, bonds, debentures and other financial instruments.

There are some other provisions as well. You can pour money in a firm and invest up to 5 percent of the paid up of its capital but the total FDI component should not exceed 10 percent.

You can invest either on a repatriable or a non-repatriable basis. Repatriable assets are those which have the ability of an asset to be moved from a foreign country back to an investor's home country.
