India's Eternal Love for Yellow Metal over the Last 10 Years

The consumer demand for gold in the price sensitive Indian market had surged by six percent to 771.1 tonnes in 2007. Demand for gold as investment increased to 215.4 tonnes, up by 10 per cent from 2006. While jewellery demand rose marginally by six per cent to 558.2 tonnes last year.

6. Year: 2008

In the year 2008 the gold demand in the country was 823.2 in terms on tomes. The value was $23.1 per billion and 999.7 per billion.  Annual average price of the yellow metal was $872 per ounce and 12,142.6 per 10 gram.

7. Year: 2009

In 2009 the demand for the precious metal was 642.4 in terms of tones and valued at $20 and 970.7 per billion. Annual average price of the yellow metal was $972.4 per ounce and 15,111.3 per 10 gram.
