The compulsory digitization mandate passed by the government has unlocked new opportunities for multi-system operators (MSOs) as the local cable operators will have to report 100 percent of their customer base compared to the current estimate of 15-20 percent.

A strong MSO like Hathway Cable and Datacom will be the best place to make benefit from this emerging opportunity. Hathway has added 3.2 lakh digital cable subscribers in the Q3 of 2011-12, increasing the digital subscriber base to 19 lakh. “We expect the company to turn around during 2012-13,” says Namrata Sharma, Analyst of PINC Research.

Hathway’s present share value is 2.94. its 52 weeks net loss is 31.27 crore and expected net profit in next 52 weeks is 29.28 crore. 12 Analysts suggests buying its share.
