Are Your Important Documents Secured?

7. Bank Locker Details

If your most valuable items are stored in a bank locker, ensure your family gets access to it after your death with as little hassle as possible. Write down details about the locker and the security deposit paid for the locker facility. A lost locker key can cost 200 to over 1,000 at different banks.

If nomination is not done or the nominee is also deceased, access may be given to the executor / administrator of the will or the legal representative.

8. Demat Account Details

A Dematerialised account to hold and trade in shares can hold a lot of money and can be a godsend for your family. If you don't have nomination paperwork done, you can download the application form online. Ensure your dependants are made aware of the login details and what kinds of shares you have. If they are not able to liquidate your stocks by logging in, ensure all relevant information about the account is obtainable so they can legally transfer ownership.
