Sensex Closes 28 Points Higher, Nifty Holds 7,900; Wipro Gains 2.3 Pct Ahead Of Q4 Results


MUMBAI: 3:35pm: The S&P BSE Sensex closes 0.11Pct, or 27.82 points, higher at 25,844.18, while the Nifty 50 closes flat at 7,914.75 points. Shares of Wipro Ltd close 2.31Pct higher at 602.75 apiece on BSE ahead of its March quarter (Q4) results.

3:22pm The S&P BSE Sensex is trading higher by 23.50 points, or 0.09Pct, to 25,839.86, while the 50-share CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) is down 1.85 points, or 0.02Pct, to 7,912.85

1:45pm: The sensex is now trading higher by 31.56 points, or 0.12Pct, to 25,847.92, while the Nifty rises 1.25 points, or 0.02Pct, to 7,915.95.

1:30pm: Shriram City Union Finance Ltd rises 10Pct to1,739.95 on the back of higher volumes. The stock gained for the sixth consecutive sessions. Since 7 April, the stock gained over 16Pct. The company will announce its March quarter earnings on 27 April.

1:20pm: Smartlink Network Systems Ltd rises 2.7Pct to102.50 after the company said in a notice to BSE that it has set share buyback price at 110 a share.

1:10pm: Tata Chemicals Ltd rises 2.3Pct to 405. Tata Chemicals Ltd,?the maker of Tata Salt, is trying to position itself as a consumer goods company rather than a fertilizer maker. Tata Chemicals is in a transformational mode, said R. Mukundan, managing director of Tata Chemicals which makes products ranging from water purifiers to urea, Mint reported.

1:00pm: Supreme Petrochem Ltd rises 3Pct to 137.70 ahead of its March quarter earnings. The stock gained nine out of 11 trading sessions. Since 31 March, the stock gained over 27.7Pct. So far this year the stock gained 21Pct.

12:50pm: VST Industries Ltd rises 2Pct to 1,702 ahead of its March quarter earnings. The stock gained seven out of nine trading sessions. Since 4 April, the stock gained 9Pct and so far this year it gained 0.22Pct.

12:40pm: Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd falls 2.4Pct to 1,309. According to news report, Lebanon halted work with Mahindra Group over Israeli Link. Mahindra Group had won bid to conduct feasibility studies to set up industrial zones in Lebanon for United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the report added.

12:30pm: TV18 Broadcast Ltd rises 0.5Pct to 37.15 ahead of its March quarter earnings. So far this year it fell 21.1Pct.

12:20pm: The sensex is now trading lower by 21.16 points, or 0.08Pct, to 25,795.20, while the Nifty falls 14.85 points, or 0.19Pct, to 7,899.85.

12:10pm: DCB Bank rises 6Pct to 93.35. The stock is trading higher for the third sessions. Since 12 April, the stock gained 14.2Pct. On 15 April, DCB Bank reported its earnings which grew 10.45Pct to 69.53 crore.

12:00pm: J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd rises 2.2Pct to 291.20, NCC Ltd rises 2.6Pct to 75.75, Simplex Infrastructures Ltd rises 5.6Pct to 261.50. According to Economic Times reported that Simplex Infrastructure, JKumar Infraprojects and NCC have won the contracts for different packages of the 16.5 km Andheri (East) to Dahisar (East) Metro-7 corridor.

11:50am: Tata Steel Ltd rises 3.7Pct to 347.50. According to newspaper report Senior staff from Tata Steel’s Port Talbot factory are expected to announce a management buyout plan for the plant.

11:40am: Tata Consultancy Services Ltd falls 1.6Pct to2,483.25. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) reported revenue growth of 11.9Pct in constant currency terms for the year ended March, slower than industry body Nasscom’s growth estimate of 12.3Pct for the country’s $150 billion outsourcing sector.

11:30am: GMR Infrastructure Ltd rises 4.1Pct to 12.34. According to CNBC report Delhi International Airport to monetize around 22-25 acres of its land near Delhi Airport.

11:20am: Wipro Ltd rises 0.8Pct to 594 ahead of its March quarter earnings later today. The company may report net profit of 2,349.80 crore while net sales will be at 13,507.40 crore, according to 33 Bloomberg analyst estimates.

11:10am: Reliance Industries Ltd falls 1.6Pct to 1,045.25 ahead of its March quarter earnings due on Friday. According to 7Bloomberg analyst estimates, the company may post net profit of 7,125.40 crore while net sales will be at 57,708 crore.

11:00am: Sugar companies are trading lower after CNBC report said that the government mulling to control sugar prices rise. Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd falls 2.1Pct, EID Parry India Ltd falls 1.3Pct, Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd falls 1.7Pct, Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd falls 3.3Pct, Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd 5.3Pct, Triveni Engineering and Industries Ltd 4.4Pct and Mawana Sugars Ltd 2.5Pct.

10:50am: The sensex is now trading lower by 4.42 points, or 0.02Pct, to 25,811.94, while the Nifty falls 10.25 points, or 0.13Pct, to 7,904.45.

10:40am: Gruh Finance Ltd rises 3Pct to 263.75 after the company reported 18.6Pct increase in its net profit to 87.82 crore in March quarter.

10:30am: Housing Development Finance Corp. (HDFC) Ltd rises 1.7Pct to 1,146 after the company said its board approved a proposal to sell shares of its unit HDFC Standard Life Insurance Co. to the public for the first time. The board approved selling upto 10Pct stake in HDFC Life.

10:20am: Suzlon Energy Ltd rises 2.2Pct to 15.62 after the company acquired five companies for an undisclosed sum to help implement its diversification into the solar energy industry, including the execution of its recently won 70 megawatt solar project in Maharashtra.

10:10am: Mastek Ltd falls 5Pct to 145.60 after the company said its net profit for the March quarter falls 9Pct from a year ago to 5.86 crore.

10:00am: Religare Enterprises Ltd rises 2.7Pct to 278.75 after the company said in a notice to BSE that it is in pact to divest its stake in Northgate Capital Llc and Northgate Capital Lp which are part of its alternatives focused global asset management business, and their subsidiaries.

9:50am: Crisil Ltd rises 8Pct to 2,140 after the company said in a notice to BSE that its March quarter net profit rises 40Pct from a year ago to 78.60 crore.

9:40am: The 30-share S&P BSE sensex is currently trading higher by 83.68 points, or 0.32Pct, to 25,900.04, while the Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) rises 13.90 points, or 0.18Pct, to 7,928.60.

9:35am: Hindustan Oil Exploration Co. Ltd rises 3Pct to 34.35 after the company said it reported a net profit of 1.38 crore in March quarter as compared to net loss of 6.03 crore a year ago.

9:30am: The Indian rupee on Wednesday hits two-week high against the US dollar at 66.27, up 0.42Pct from its previous close of 66.55, after India’s trade deficit narrowed to a five-year low.

9:25am: India’s 10-year bond yield is trading at 7.412Pct as compared with its Monday’s close of 7.417Pct.

9:20am: The dollar has managed to hold on to this week’s gains above ¥109, having tumbled on Monday below ¥108 in the panic that followed Sunday’s Doha oil talks failure.

9:15am: Oil prices again led the way by reversing much of Tuesday’s sharp gains. Brent crude sheds 83 cents to $43.20 a barrel, while US crude oil sinks $1.02 to $40.11.

9:10am: Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 edges up 0.5Pct in morning trading to 16,962.28. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 adds 0.3Pct to 5,271.80. South Korea’s Kospi gains 0.3Pct to 2,016.81. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng falls 0.6Pct to 21,307.82, while the Shanghai Composite inches up nearly 0.1Pct to 3,044.98.

9:00am: Asian stocks meanders on Wednesday, though sentiment was lifted by Wall Street’s strong day, as investor attention turned to upcoming remarks from a European Central Bank (ECB) official.

8:50am: The Dow Jones industrial average gained 49 points, or 0.3Pct, to 18,053. The Standard and Poor’s 500 index added six points, or 0.3Pct, to 2,100. The Nasdaq edged down 19 points, or 0.4Pct, to 4,940.
