You must carry more than two cards and its best if you carry credit as well as debit cards, so that you don’t end up with a huge credit card bill. Carrying an ATM card is the most expedient way to get local currency when you are in a foreign country. By using a ATM, you get a reasonable bank-to-bank exchange rate. However, banks add premium of about 1 percent to 3 percent to the amount exchanged. But your ATM provider may charge some variable charges like pay per use fee or a foreign ATM charge. Carrying an ATM card may reduce the amount of hard cash in your wallet. It is also financially more safe option of carrying cash while traveling.
