10 Money-Etiquette Issues
5. Paying for Advice
You want the best advice for everything, whether it is your money matters or interior design for your house. But you always ask yourself whether you should pay for this or not. Nancy Barsotti, an interior designer says, “Many people seem to think their friends and acquaintances go into particular professions because, all money aside, they just love their work. They assume that justifies asking for free help.” But no, it doesn’t. You should pay a professional, even if she is your friends. You should pay for her time and advice. “If she doesn’t bring it up first, say, ‘How are we going to take care of the business side of this? Will you draw up a contract that outlines what you’ll do and how much you’ll charge?” adds Barsotti.
