09.00 AM – 09.45 AM: Keynote Session
Build Your Own Highly Scalable Clouds
Creating scalable, agile and robust cloud implementations requires more than just a good hypervisor, some automation and a fancy UI. It requires a successful plan - not only identifying the chosen architecture, but also selecting appropriate workloads and understanding the costs of managing the infrastructure and delivering those workloads. While you may not plan for your cloud implementation to scale to that of some of largest of clouds, like the Nokia Research Centre or Zynga, you should demand the same flexibility. This session will show you how to streamlines implementation and management of IaaS clouds.
Join us in this session and learn how to:

  • Create a successful plan for rolling out cloud services
  • Model your cloud architecture to meet business needs
  • Define agile network and storage topologies
  • Select the correct workloads for your cloud deployment
    Speaker
Ravi Gururaj, VP Products, Cloud Platforms Group, Citrix Systems

    09.45 AM - 10.30 AM: Session 1
Open Source Middleware for the Cloud: WSO2 Stratos
WSO2 Stratos is the most complete, enterprise-grade PaaS, with support for more core services than any other available PaaS today. It is designed to create the perfect balance between centralized hosting, governance and management together with developer freedom, productivity and time-to-market. Unlike many cloud platforms, WSO2 Stratos, the software behind the WSO2 StratosLive Java PaaS, is available as a fully supported product that can be installed and run on-premise. This talk will walk you through how WSO2 Stratos provides essential building blocks required for developing SaaS and cloud applications and the advantages you gain.
    Speaker
Dimuthu Leelarathne, Technical Lead and Product Manager, WSO2 Stratos

    10.30 AM - 11.00 AM: Morning Break
A chance to meet up with your friends and have a cup of coffee!

    11.00 AM to 11.40 AM: Session 2
    Cloud Architectures for Alpha dogs
Cloud computing provides computation, software, data access, and storage services that do not require end-user knowledge of the physical location and configuration of the system that delivers the services. Parallel to this concept can be drawn with the electricity grid, wherein end-users consume power without needing to understand the component devices or infrastructure required to provide the service. This session briefly discusses why cloud computing is being dubbed disruptive, actually, and explores the nuances of the technology.
    Key Take Aways:
  • The Case for Elastic application architecture
  • Basic technologies required for creating Elastic (cloud) applications and Role of accelerators (aPaaS)
  • Role of Alpha Dogs and web services/APIs on cloud
  • Some converging trends in cloud computing
  • How Open source cloud services architectures will enable the badly needed interoperability?
    Speaker
Vikas Gupta, General Manager and Practice Head (Cloud Computing), MindTree

    11.40 AM to 12.20 PM: Session 3
    Tracking SLA’s in cloud
Tracking SLA’s for business apps on cloud is critical. Lots of CSP claim to provide good handle on creating and managing metrics to tracks SLAs. Mostly these are H/W and Networking level numbers which hardly make any sense for business users. There must be a thrust to collect and isolate app level metrics from the cloud level metrics. Moreover, metric collection process should not deteriorate performance of the systems in cloud. There are several ways and products available to get such information to make sure SLAs are tracked and dashboards are generated periodically. Using XML or CSV to configure such systems to define machine readable formats is critical for designing such apps.
    Key Take Aways:

  • Gathering system metrics, app metrics
  • Processing these numbers to generate meaningful reports
  • Defining SLAs in system readable formats
  • Generating alerts if any breach in SLA is noticed.
  • Business use cases of having a SLA tracker in place.

Satish Agrawal, Vice President, Cloud Computing Practice, e-Zest Solutions Ltd.

    12.20 PM to 01.00 PM: Session 4
Building Multi-tenant SaaS Applications on Windows Azure
Today, Software as a Service (SaaS) is a major trend in the way services are delivered, deployed and consumed, and this trend is growing at a fast pace. Cloud PaaS platforms, with their platform level scalability and elasticity, provide a preferred deployment option for SaaS applications. This session covers various functional and technical aspects of SaaS like multi-tenancy, subscription models, billing models, configurability, etc. and elaborates on their effect on the architecture of the system. The speaker will talk about a Framework based approach for development of SaaS based applications. He will also cover a case study of SaaS-enabling an application and deploying it on the Windows Azure platform.
    Speaker
Anand Bhate, CoE Lead - Cloud Computing, Zensar Technologies

01.00 PM to 02.00 PM: Lunch
Break for lunch on the house and a chance to catch up with each other!

    02.00 PM to 02.40 PM: Session 5
Private Clouds - Oxymoron or real benefits?
Is private cloud a real cloud? There are many naysayers who believe that private cloud is not a cloud but just a marketing jargon for private cloud vendor companies. But is that true or are there real benefits on moving to a private cloud? I will talk about business drivers, benefits and challenges of private cloud computing and how industry is looking at private cloud to solve many of its problems.
    Speaker
Ashwin Waknis, Head - Cloud and Virtualization Professional Services Business, Persistent Systems

    02.40 PM to 03.20 PM: Session 6
Scalable Architecture on Amazon AWS Cloud
With increasing demand, ever-growing datasets, unpredictable traffic patterns and need for faster response times, “scalable architecture” has become a necessity. Here, we will see how the traditional concepts and best practices for scalability have to be adopted for the cloud. Further, we will go through the unique advantages that Amazon AWS cloud offers for architecting scalable applications. As an architect, you need to identify the components and bottlenecks in your architecture and modify your application to leverage the underlying scalability.
The Speaker will cover the following topics:
  • Scalability principles for the cloud
  • Leveraging AWS services for application components
  • Shared nothing architecture
  • Asynchronous work queues for loosely coupled applications
  • Database scalability
  • Tools, connectors and enablers to help build, deploy and monitor your cloud environment
  • Scalability using Platform-as-a-Service offerings on top of AWS
  • An example of a horizontally scalable architecture for an enterprise application on Amazon AWS

Cloud Computing: A Paradigm Shift for IT Community
This session focuses on how cloud computing will impact the IT community as a whole, and what are the architecture-enablers that will bringing the change. Cloud Computing is bringing a Paradigm Shift for the IT community – everyone is impacted - hosting providers, ISVs, system-integrators and the software engineers. The hosting-providers have already felt the heat, many ISVs are undergoing the major-transitions today. Next, it will hit the system-integrators, architects, developers, testers & engineers - primarily, all of us - the session will cover the architecture-enablers, niche cloud service providers and innovative-integrations that would bring this change and how our day-in-a-life will become tomorrow, working on clouds!
