Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science, Indore established in 1952 as a tiny Institute has grown into a leading technological Institution in the state of Madhya Pradesh but also the entire central and Western Regions of the country in a span of 35 years. Considering the quality of the manpower generated by the Institute, a high power committee of the government of India has ranked it 16th in the country including IITs and NITs. While recognizing its academic achievements, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and University grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi granted the status of an Autonomous Institution in 1989.Under this status, the Institute conducts its own examinations at both UG and PG levels and frames its own syllabii with a flexibility to update them as and when required to keep pace with the latest technological and scientific developments. All the major UG and PG programmes have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation of AICTE. Efforts are being made for acquiring the status of “DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY” for the Institute and same in the Dec. 2004 conditionally.

At present, the institute offers 10-Undergraduate and 17 Post Graduate courses with an annual intake of 660 and 375 students respectively including Master’s Degree in Applied Sciences and Pharmacy. M.C.A. course with annual intake 60 students is being offered since 2000-2001. The institute runs 5 Part Time degree courses with intake of 30 students in each. The Institute is a nationally recognized center for carrying out research leading to Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Applied Science and Pharmacy. The Ministry of HRD of Govt. of India has identified the Civil Engg. Department of the Institute as a Center for Quality Improvement (QIP) for Ph.D. degree and Electrical Engg. Department for M.E. degree. More departments will have this recognition shortly. The Institute is does recognized centre for National Doctoral Fellowship (NDF) scheme of AICTE. A large no. of its Alumni have acquired top positions in National & International organizations & serving the society for its continuous betterment.

Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science,has well-qualified and experienced faculty of sanctioned strength of more than 50% of strength of more than the fan----- hold doctoral degrees. Almost quite a few of them have received prestigious awards. The faculty and the students of the institute publish more than 100 research papers every year. The laboratories in all the various departments have been modernized with an aid of approx. Rs3.0 crores from Govt. of India and World Bank. The Institute is involved in Continuing Education Programme and also provides Testing and Consultancy services. The Institute has successfully completed a large number of sponsored Research Projects. Funded by UGC, AICTE, DST, DAE, CSIR etc. The Institute also supports IGNOU, New Delhi for its technical courses. The valedictory function of the Golden Jubilee Celebration was attended by the then President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on Dec. 23, 2002. in also recognized centre for National Dectoral Fellowship (NDF) Scheme of AICTE.
