Oriental Group of Institutes was started by the founder Chairman Shri K.L Thakral in the year 1995.It is a self financed premier educational group imparting quality education in the disciplines of Engineering, Pharmacy, Management and Advanced Computer Studies.The Institutes are approved by AICTE & Govt. of Madhya Pradesh and are affiliated to RGPV & Barkatullah University. At present Oriental has Colleges at Bhopal, Indore & Jabalpur and is continuing to expand. A private University is proposed to be set up at Indore very soon. Oriental Group is a Self financed Organisation running under the Devi Shakuntala Thakral Charitable Foundation, Bhopal.

Oriental Group of Institutes pioneered campus placement in Central India by bringing corporates for the students of its first batch in 1998. The Group, carved a niche for itself in the corporate world and has lately become a synonym for campus placement. Some of the world's Top IT and Fortune 500 companies have made Oriental as the nodal center for their campus selection activity in the State of M.P as well as Chattisgarh. Last session, the number of OGI students selected at the campus was 617, with packages ranging from 2.1 lacs p.a to 4.2 lacs p.a., which is a remarkable achievement.
