New Delhi, The medical college at the Bara Hindu Rao Hospital here has received approval from the health ministry to admit its second batch of students for the new academic session, an official said Wednesday.

Admission of the second batch was stalled after the Medical Council of India pointed out lack of faculty members, hostel facilities and labs.

The first batch of 50 students was admitted last year.

North Delhi Municipal Corporation Commissioner Praveen Gupta said the Medical Council had pointed out some deficiencies during an inspection of the college.

"We have duly addressed and taken care of it now," Gupta said.

He said faculty members have been hired, and for the remaining number of posts, recruitment is scheduled to take place soon.

"Besides, suitable hostel accommodation has also been provided. The 100 percent target for establishing labs has also been achieved," he said.

The medical college has recognition from the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

"As part of a new initiative, we have also planned a new building for the college, WiFi facility (trial run for which has been done successfully), library, new hostel block, cafeteria and facilities for recreation," he added.
