This is more than century old college has been an important centre of learning in South Orissa and one among the three premier educational institutions in the state. It has a name at the national level for its academic achievements. It was established in the year 1886. The College was conferred with autonomous status by UGC since 1990. As a result of the Government of Orissa decision to open MCA course, Khallikote Autonomous College introduced MCA course from the session 1997-98. The course has been approved by AICTE and affiliated to Berhampur University. Students are admitted into this course through J EE MCA conducted by BPUT.
