The B.V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering & Technology in Hubli was founded in 1947. It is one of the best engineering colleges of India. It started as a Polytechnic in Gadag but was moved to Hubli in 1948 and simultaneously upgraded to an Engineering College. Initially the college offered only an undergraduate course in civil engineering. Today, the college offers 12 Under-graduate and 7 Post-graduate courses in various disciplines such as Architecture, Automobile Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering among others.
The courses offered by the college are affiliated to Vishvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and recognised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The faculty consists of qualified and dedicated academicians whose commitment to students has resulted in a number of accolades.
The college provides the best of basic amenities such as hostels (Separate for Boys and Girls), mess, library, well planned sports ground and indoor stadium. Placement programs, soft skills training, IT enabling programs and software consultancy cell are the additional advantages which provide the foundation for successful careers of the students.
