The Government of India declared Sri Avinashilingam Home Science College for Women as a Deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act in June 1988. The Department of Computer Science of Avinashilingam University was established in 1988 with B.Sc. Computer Science. Post Graduate courses M.Sc and M.C.A are offered since 1991. It takes the pride of being one of the pioneers in Coimbatore in offering post graduate programs in the field of IT. The University is well known for its discipline, qualified and experienced faculty members and labs equipped with latest software and hardware in a networking environment.
