Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology encompasses a sprawling 48.7 acres campus with a built-up area of 5.65 lakhs sq.ft. AVIT is an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution with the major programmes accredited by the NBA-AICTE. The college is committed to impart quality education to students from different socio-economic backgrounds. It offers under-graduate programmes in 14 different disciplines and five post-graduate programmes including the Master of Computer Applications and Master of Business Administration courses. It also offers part–time programmes in four undergraduate streams and four postgraduate streams.

Vision And Mission

The strong desire of philanthropist and educationist Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, to serve the society in general and the needy in particular paved the way for the establishment of the Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical, Educational and Charitable Trust at Salem, Tamil Nadu, India of which he is the Founder and Chairman. By his zeal, dedication and untiring effort he carved a niche for himself in the field of education in India and abroad. All through his life he has been devoting himself to the cause of education. His bold and strong conviction is that "Education is an important instrument for social change".

The objective of the Trust is to render social service to the society by imparting technical and professional education. Since 1981 Vinayaka Missions is in the field of education and its insatiable thirst for achieving excellence has taken it to greater heights of glory.

In recognition of Vinayaka Missions' 'Excellence in Education', the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India, accorded the 'Deemed University' status to Vinayaka Mission's Research Foundation in the year 2001, based on the recommendations of the University Grants Commission. The Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation (Deemed University) has recently been renamed as 'Vinayaka Missions University' (VMU) following of a notification issued by the University Grants Commission.

Admission Procedure

Candidates may directly apply or come in person to the Admission Cell operating from the Corporate Office at the above mentioned address.

Candidates are requested to read all the instructions given in the application form. The filled-in application forms should be submitted with the relevant documents to the Admission Officer at the Admission Cell.

All admissions (including those of foreign/ NRI students) are made subject to eligibility and according to the norms set by the Supreme Court of India, Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Relevant Rules & Regulations in respect of admission :

It is essential to fill in the application form with correct details. In the event of furnishing incorrect information:

• He/ she will forfeit the admission irrespective of what stage of the course he/ she is in at that point of time when it is detected.

• He/ she will be debarred from pursuing any course of study.

Legal action will be instituted against him/ her for furnishing wrong information.

Eligibility for Admission:

Indian students:

The filled-in application should be accompanied by the following documents :

• An attested photocopy of X pass/ Matriculation/ Secondary School Certificate issued by the Board of Examination.

• An attested photocopy of the Mark Sheet of the qualifying examination

• Transfer Certificate from the institute last studied in/ Migration Certificate

• Conduct Certificate

• Community Certificate

• Three passport-size photographs

• Any other documents required by the University

Foreign Students

In addition to the above certificates the FOREIGN STUDENTS must also submit

• No Objection Certificate from the Government of India (issued by Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi)

• No Objection Certificate issued by the Ambassador of the country where the candidate hails from or the competent authority empowered to grant permission to stay and pursue education in India

• Eligibility Certificate from the University

• Appropriate Student Visa.

• All relevant travel documents inclusive of passport

• Necessary Health Certificate and Vaccination Certificate
