Software has taken a driving role in defining the application landscape.  With the same hardware, multiple applications can be realized and can become a very big differentiator across similar platforms.

Addressing the Challenges

The ecosystem seems to be evolving. Plenty of startups are coming; however there is a long way to go if India has to be seen as the Electronics hub in the long run. The whole ecosystem in totality needs to be addressed and not just one segment of the product life cycle. They hardly have any prominent silicon company in our country. If they need to design anything only prominent names like TI, ST, etc comes to mind.
