siliconindia | | April 20188IVF IS THE NEXT BIG THING!By Dr. Kishore Kumar, Founder, Chairman & MD, Cloudnine HospitalsHeadquartered in Bangalore, Cloudnine Hospitals is one of India's leading maternity & child care hospital chains offering a wide range of services in the areas of Maternity, Paediatrics, Childbirth, Women's Health, NICU, Neonatology, Gynaecology, and Fertility.IIN MY OPINIONDr. Kishore Kumarremember that my father's close friend's brother didn't have any children while we growing up. I remember one of my father's close friends brother didn't have any children when we were growing up. The woman always got blamed wherever they went for not conceiving the offspring. Though this was a story 45 years ago, it is no different these days. We recently had a couple come to us who had conceived their first pregnancy after seven years of marriage, with great difficulty and found out that their unborn child had a 1:120 risk of having Down's Syndrome. When their obstetrician offered them the choice of amniocentesis to confirm if the foetus has Down's Syndrome or possibly terminating the baby if it was affected, the couple was very clear in their thought process - `we would rather have a child with Down's Syndrome than have NO child at all'. Such is the societal pressure to conceive a child in India that every couple wants to have a child. and they had conceived their `first pregnancy' after seven years of marriage with great difficulty and during their antenatal tests showed that the unborn baby had 1:120 risk of having Down Syndrome when the Obstetrician offered the choice of amniocentesis for confirmation of Down Syndrome and possible termination of pregnancy if the unborn baby is affected the couple were very clear in their thought process we would rather have a child with Down Syndrome rather than NO child. The sperm from the man and the egg from the woman are fertilised to create an egg outside the human body (hence the term `test tube baby'), and then the fertilised egg is implanted in the woman's womb to induce pregnancy. as popularly known as is called `test tube' baby in a common man terminology where the sperm from the man and the egg from the woman are fertilized to create an egg outside the human body then the egg is implanted on woman's womb to create pregnancy.
