SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST

In the software industry survival of the fittest applies only to an extent of 60 percentage where the career growth of the software professional is governed by certain external influence. With my more than 2 decade of experience in the IT industry where I started my career from scratch without any proper backup or support the climb up the corporate ladder is difficult and sometimes very frustrating as you see some people who are less meritorious and less capable than you going up the corporate ladder smoothly with external influence. Many people have shared this experience with me but then we don’t have control of circumstances which are very domineering and powerful.

As to guide the younger aspiring IT professionals and those who are already employed my advice is that if you don’t have proper backup or support then try to get into business domains used in the software industry which are in high demand in the global market place because this is only going to be your saving grace, plan your career path in such a way that you learn complex systems like ERP where the branded ERP should be the market leader.

If you master a Product then you have a authority on the product or say any other programming language but please be careful that you stay updated as the information technology industry is fast changing industry and very competitive.

So as to conclude if there is no proper backup or support you will have to rely on hard work, intelligence and perseverance as there is no godfather to help you when you fall down which only a certain percentage of the people have the privilege, so the principle of survival of the fittest doesn’t apply 100% in the software industry based on a rough estimate it is 60% only.
