ERP Implementation Trauma In Non IT Company

In  My 21 years of career as IT Professional I had experience various turbulences in implementing ERP systems in a process based company and in companies where there was no process in place. Previously I had experience in implementing ERP systems in giant soap company where the process was in place but in later stages of my career I was faced with a challenging task of implementing a gulf based ERP system in India as per Indian taxation conditions where the process was not in place , in this ERP i Introduced all the tax reforms as per Indian conditions but I was faced with a challenging situation where the users were failing to adapt to change management the users were comfortable in their own work zone and the developers I was using were not experienced and needed to be trained but then we customized the software as per their needs so that they find it user friendly and don’t give excuses.

We gave them a road map of implementation and customized the ERP on all their agreed features  as per the gap & fit analysis done during the requirement study and gave them a product which is ideal for Indian use.

My advice to implementers in non it companies where the process is not in place is to get a thorough understanding of the business process and the masters they are using and give them complete online support for the product because they don’t know computer intricacies but you have to know them and implement it.
