About The University West of England :

The University of the West of England (UWE) is a modern, growing university in the thriving harbourside city of Bristol. UWE Bristol is one of Britain's most popular universities, with around 30,000 students and 3,000 staff and is the largest provider of Higher Education in the South West of England. Students come to UWE from all parts of the UK, as well as a significant and growing number of international students from over 140 countries worldwide.

UWE is a multi-site university. It has four campuses in and around Bristol encompassing seventeen departments covering a wide range of disciplines and expertise. In addition, we also have an Associate Faculty in Hartpury, Gloucester and regional education centres in Bath, Gloucester and Swindon. The University is continually developing, and a massive £200m is currently being invested in new facilities which has so far included a new Student Village and Centre for Sport on Frenchay Campus and the purchase of development land on the neighbouring Hewlett Packard site to create a true 21st century campus.

Schools And Departments :

Bristol Business School : Bristol Business School (part of the University of the West of England) is one of the UK’s leading new university business schools with a comprehensive academic provision, a strong regional and national position and an increasing international reputation. It is one of the largest school’s in the UK with around 4000 students and 200 staff.

We are renowned for the quality of our teaching and are widely regarded as one of the leading new universities for research.

We have also received accolades from many professional bodies: our MBA programme is one of an elite group in the country to have been accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA).  Bristol Business School has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and we are also a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Learning quality partner.

Department of Engineering Design and Mathematics : Staff and students welcome you to a Department which is innovative and creative, which seeks to better society and the environment not just now but for the future.

We actively seek to collaborate and form partnerships with business, academia, professional institutions and the wider community. We win awards, we contribute papers to conferences, we offer our expertise to help and advise, we showcase our work through exhibitions, we generate significant research and consultancy income and much, much more.

The Department of Nursing and Midwifery : The Department has strong links with external agencies including 14 NHS Trusts and Primary Care Trusts and voluntary agencies. There are well-established networks for School and Trust staff to meet and collaborate on a number of initiatives such as:

    * Curriculum development
    * Course monitoring and evaluation
    * Educational audits of clinical areas
    * Recruitment and selection of students
    * Research

Academic staff from the Department collaborate with partners across the health and social care sectors in research, practice development and education initiatives. Staff from practice contribute to teaching on both the pre and post-qualifying programmes, and partnerships between practice and education are fostered.

The Department of Health and Applied Social Sciences : The Department brings together specialists in the areas of public health, environmental health, social work, sociology, criminology and social policy and disciplines such as biological sciences, epidemiology, health economics and sociology that make an important contribution to these areas of work.

Staff are engaged in research and consultancy across a wide range of activity, for example: Older People, Education, Research and Development, Children and Young People, Offender Health Work, Leadership and Management, Arts and Health, Clinical Research, and User Involvement. Interprofessional, multidisciplinary and international approaches are now major dimensions to much of our work.
