The University was founded by an Act of the Tasmanian Parliament on 1 January 1890, and as the fourth oldest university in Australia we are an original 'sandstone' university. Faculty of Health & science At University of Tasmania: The Faculty of Health Science enjoys a long-standing reputation for quality teaching programs and world-class research activities. School of medicine At University of Tasmania:The School of Medicine teaches many units as part of Degree Programs offered by other Faculties in the University of Tasmania.This course will provide high-achieving students with a solid background in human, plant and animal biology, and the tools of modern biology and biotechnology that will equip them to become the researchers of the future in both medical and non-medical areas.
