Welcome to Salford University - UK

About The University of Salford :

The University of Salford has a rich history stretching back to 1896, but if you thought Salford was all about flat caps, factory smog and Coronation Street – think again.

   * The future looks bright. In 2011 we'll be joining five major BBC departments, including Sport and Children's, at MediaCityUK only a short distance from the University campus. We'll have 100,000 square feet of space filled with state-of-the-art technology right next to the BBC buildings. All parts of the University will be involved in working with the BBC and other tenants to create job opportunities for graduates, and benefit business and the local community
   * 83% of our research was judged of international class by the Government's latest Research Assessment Exercise. What's more, 12% was judged to be world-leading – at the very cutting edge. Not only does Salford's research directly benefit people's everyday lives, but it also means that our teaching and business partnerships benefit as well
    * Just one and a half miles away from Manchester, the University of Salford is right on the doorstep of big-city diversity and fun
    * Our world-famous graduates include painter LS Lowry, comedian Peter Kay, actors Sir Ben Kingsley and Christopher Eccleston, and former CEO of ASDA, Andy Bond.

What makes Salford special ?

As a University, we've been growing for over a hundred years and achieved success every step of the way. as part of this success we've developed into a dynamic and cosmopolitan institution with a first-class reputation for real-world teaching and ground breaking research. What's more, our historic tradition of innovative thinking and commercial success means we're widely regarded as one of the UK's most enterprising universities.

We are home to over 120 academic staff who are all qualified nurses and experts in their fields, and that means we can offer the best in undergraduate, post-qualifying and postgraduate education.

Our staff are involved with a wide range of other organisations and projects and these collaborations give that added extra to our education provision.
Enterprise

Our enterprise activity is integral to our teaching, learning and research. The School offers a variety of services in areas including independent consultancy and evaluation services, tailor-made short courses for Continuing Professional Development and projects and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
Service users and carers group

We have formed a service users and carers group in response to student feedback and concern for the patient voice in the nursing curriculum. There is a core group of 12-15 people and all have had experience of the health service or a health issue in some shape or form as either a service user and/or carer.
