About the Portsmouth University :

The University of Portsmouth has a long tradition of helping UK business succeed and in the process enabling those businesses to create new jobs, wealth and prosperity for all. During these challenging economic times Portsmouth has used its research expertise and knowledge to help the business community to respond positively to opportunities and chart a path to growth.

The Portsmouth University takes this role very seriously and has made changes that enable it to respond to the needs of the business community. It created Purple Door as a one-stop shop for business services from the University, making it easy for business to gain access to the best that the University has to offer. Whether it's our research expertise, the knowledge and knowhow of our staff, or a graduate who will add real value to their business, Purple Door makes it happen.

School of Health Sciences and Social Work : The School of Health Sciences and Social Work offers a wide and unique range of courses from pre-degree to PhD and professional doctorate. We have strong links with the local and regional National Health Service Trusts (including the Ambulance Services), the Strategic Health Authority and Social Services. We feel it is important to involve them and other stakeholders in the design and delivery of many of our courses. In this way we ensure that the content and skills our students learn are current and match employers' expectations and needs.

School of Civil Engineering and Surveying (SCES) : In the 2005 National Students' Survey we were voted number one Civil Engineering Department in the UK - an achievement which strengthens our reputation for successful teaching, research and consultancy, and which confirms the excellent relationship we have with our students, providing a friendly and supportive environment.
