The results show that the majority of research submitted by the university included world-leading research, achieving the highest rating possible - scoring 4-stars. Overall, 80% of the research was judged as being of international repute.

Welcome to the School of Nursing and Midwifery : The School of Nursing and Midwifery has a multidisciplinary portfolio. We offer undergraduate programmes in Adult Nursing, Child Health, Midwifery, Public Health, and a course in Dental Nursing linked to the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry. Our CPD and post graduate provision includes a range of modules which meet the educational needs of health professionals in a number of areas of practice.
Welcome to the School of Marine Science and Engineering : The School of Marine Science and Engineering is multifaceted and the largest of its kind in Europe which contains approximately 80 academic staff, 1400 undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, and 90 MPhil/PhD research students. It has interests which span civil and coastal engineering, geography, marine biology, marine science, marine studies, and mechanical and marine engineering. Many of the courses are professionally accredited. In order to manage its wide portfolio of taught courses, the school has four subject groups, namely, civil and coastal engineering, marine biology, marine sciences, and mechanical and marine engineering. For the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, the school submitted under several units of assessment with the vast majority judged being as of an international standard or world leading. To underpin its teaching and research the school has a number of well equipped laboratories and other facilities.
