About Louisville university:

The University of Louisville is a state supported research university located in Kentucky's largest metropolitan area. It was a municipally supported public institution for many decades prior to joining the university system in 1970. The University has three campuses. The 287-acre Belknap Campus is three miles from downtown Louisville and houses seven of the university's 11 colleges and schools. The Health Sciences Center is situated in downtown Louisville's medical complex and houses the university's health related programs and the University of Louisville Hospital. On the 243-acre Shelby Campus is located in eastern Jefferson County.


Schools and Colleges

College of Business: Each year we serve approximately 2500 undergraduate students and 500 graduate students with more than 80 full-time faculty. We are nationally recognized as a metropolitan research institution and the leading entrepreneurial business college in the region.
Our graduate program for entrepreneurs is ranked in the TOP 10 in the U.S. by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine. It is the highest national ranking ever earned by an academic program at the University of Louisville.

College of Dentistry:The University of Louisville School of Dentistry enjoys a rich heritage in dental education and a reputation for clinical excellence that reaches back to the 1800s.

Since the first class of 10 dentists graduated in 1887, over 7,500 men and women have joined their ranks. With record numbers of outstanding applications more than 2,400 for 80 positions the school's tradition of excellence promises to stretch far into the future. More than 1,000 dental hygienists have graduated from ULSD since the program began in 1952.The Dental Hygiene bachelor of science program is Kentucky's only dental hygiene program housed within a dental school.

School of Medicine:Today, the School of Medicine is an integral part of a large and growing Health Sciences Center that includes more than 200,000 square feet of state-of-the-art research space, a comprehensive standardized patient clinic and one of the largest academic medical simulation centers in the nation.

School of Nursing:Located on a health sciences center affords nursing faculty and students the opportunity to collaborate and partner in interdisciplinary and multi site research, such as clinical translational science awards, and to learn together with other health professionals through simulation technology. Location at a university on the move allows us to  serve the Metro Louisville and Kentucky communities. Expansion within our current building will allow us to achieve growth in our teaching, research and service missions.

Speed School of Engineering:The Speed Scientific School was established in 1925 as a memorial to the late James Breckenridge Speed with an endowment by his son and daughter, Dr. William S. Speed and Mrs. Olive Speed Sackett of Louisville. The income from this endowment is used exclusively as a supplementary support for the activities of the school.
