Jay Meattle Founded Shareaholic Grabs $2 Million In Funding

Massachusetts: Massachusetts-based  content-sharing tool provider, Shareaholic, has raised $2 million in venture funds led by its existing investors General Catalyst Partners, NextView Ventures, Dave McClure (of 500 Startups), Sicole Stata (of Boston Seed Capital), Edward Roberts (of Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and others. The funds would help the company to lay a foundation for building an Internet company in New Delhi and Boston, to scale the team and resources.

Previously, Shareaholic had raised $1.9 million in seed funds from its angel investors and Jonathan Kraft, Dave McCLure, NextView Ventures and General Catalyst Partners. It had also raised $350,000 in angel funding from David Cancel, Brian Shin, Dharmesh Shah, Ed Roberts, and Andy Payne.

Shareaholic was founded in 2008 by Jay Meattle, who had previously co-founded POPSignal. He was the VP-Products at Lookery, the Product Manager at Complete (which got acquired by Taylor Nelson Softres), and the Advisor at SpotScout. He did his B.S. in Computer Science from Tufts University. Meattle is also a Fellow of The Leadership Program at TiE.

Shareaholic provides faster and easier content sharing on web, which facilitates publishers, advertisers, and mainstream businesses to measure the effectiveness of their content. It has had more than two million browser plugin installations and has a growing publisher network. Its sharing tools are available in WordPress and Tumblr, and the company has over 250 million unique visitors every month.

NextView Ventures is a micro VC firm which provides seed-stage capital and is focused on transformative internet-enabled businesses. Its portfolio companies include Mojo Motors, oneforty, RentJuice, SalesCrunch, Swipely, and many others.

General Catalyst Partners is a venture capital and growth equity firm, which focuses on technology-based companies. Its portfolio companies include Airbnb, Backupify, HubSpot, Plum District, Qumas, and many more.
