Founded by the brothers Karl Albrecht and Theo Albrecht in the year 1961, the company is a German discount supermarket chain. ALDI has two separate chains of operation: ALDI Nord (operating as ALDI MARKET, with its headquarters in Essen and ALDI Sud, with its headquarters in Mulheim an der Ruhr, both of which operate independently from each other within specific areas.
