4. Wildlife Trafficking

The worldwide wildlife trade is a stern protection problem, addressed by the United Nations' Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora CITES, which currently has 175 member countries called Parties. In Europe the profits produced by the trafficking in endangered species are expected at 18 to 26 billion Euros i.e. approximately 32 billion U.S. dollars per year.

5. Termites Eat Cash worth Crores

State Bank of India found that the management of its Barabanki branch was guilty of laxity due to which over 1 crore currency notes were damaged by termites. On April 19 2011 bank officials found that termites had spoiled currency notes kept in the storage room.

SBI AGM Geeta Tripathi, who headed the inquiry team, said that after the visit to the branch, it appeared that the notes in the currency chest had been damaged by termites as the branch was housed in a very old building ridden by termites, reported PTI.
