Mary Kom, a five- time world champion who had won the Bronze Medal at the London Olympic Games has created a history for being the first Indian Women Boxer to have won an individual medal in the Olympics. Despite all the social taboo and hindrance Mary has fought all her way to the top. Bestowing a country’s highest civilian award to a determined and strong willed woman like her will be like saluting and respecting the entire women folks of the country.

3. Dilip Kumar:

Dilip Kumar, the Last Mughal of Hindi cinema brought in a style of which was a marked of departure from the loud theatrics of the 1940s and defined what acting would remain to be in cinema thereafter. Comedy, tragedy, action, romance and drama were on his finger-tips. He is one such actor who lived each character to perfection. He was the first superstar of independent India and personified the ideals of a generation. So, to honour an actor like him with the highest award like Bharat Ratna, for the most prized relic of cinema, would continue to inspire generation after generation.
