Teens Prefer Text Messages for Health Tips


As per the National Institute of Mental Health statistics suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers. Every year around 5,000 young people between the age of 10 to 24 commit suicide and about 25 suicide attempts are made by each one when committing it.

The texting option is meant for the teenagers to reach out for help in conditions where a phone call could be hard to make for them. Even though the hotline volunteers find text messaging hard to communicate than telephone conversations in terms of getting the picture of the individual’s state of mind,  providing the required assistance still is a way to send some help and stop someone from taking a drastic step.

Technology has brought the world closer but has ways to go to make it a better place, yet reaching out to the people is the most important part of being connected. Giving advices to the naïve and adolescent teenagers, to help them through crisis even if it comes down to typing messages and working within the limited number of characters. This shows that a message can do a lot in simple or a crucial situation.
