Big Mergers And Acquisitions
Year 2011 saw big mergers and acquisition in the field of IT, software-as-a-service, mobility, big data and social networking. Some acquisitions were made to reduce competition, and some were made to provide better services to the customers. Few such big names in the M&A of 2011 were Cricket Companion acquired CrickZenga; Cumulux’s acquisition by Aditi Technologies, Groupon acquired Campfire Labs and many more. What came as a surprise was the acquisition of the Silicon Valley based startup Sprout by the Indian startup company InMobi, which also raised around $200 million from Softbank.
