Shopaholics Disappointed! International Retail Brands to Hike Prices Due To Rupee Depreciation

Daniel Hechter and Manchester United which are a part of Biyani's Future Group- have no plans of increasing their prices as they have 10 percent exposure to imports. Brands like United Colors of Benetton and M&S will be least affected by rupee depreciation due to high percent of local sourcing.

Pinakiranjan Mishra partner and national leader at consulting firm Ernst & Young says that a sudden change in the price hikes will definitely affect the consumers. It is going to be very difficult for the consumers to accept hikes which will be more than 15 percent.

"International brands that operate on a franchise model in India, where the local franchisee has a high exposure to currency fluctuations through imports, will definitely have to go in for a price increase," said Devangshu Dutta, CEO of retail consultancy Third Eyesight.

As of now, both domestic and international brands are going through a year-end sale season that is ranging between 30 to 50 percent. Infact this figure is expected to rise up to 70 percent by the end of the season sale.
