Shobhana Bhartia, the Chairperson and Editorial Director at Hindustan Times Group feel that the media was the one business, of the many her family was involved with, which really fascinated her. From an early age, she would come up with ideas for their newspaper Hindustan Times. She would bounce these off her father, K.K. Birla. He realised her passion. But to convince him that she could lead a newspaper took a lot of hard work." When Bhartia joined Hindustan Times in 1986, she was the first woman chief executive of a national newspaper and probably one of the youngest. She is considered to be one of the motive forces behind the transformation of the Hindustan Times "into a bright, young paper."
