Monsoon Awards a Loss of 2,900 Crore to Himachal Pradesh

The main stretch of the national highway from Wangtu to Sumdo is said to be completely washed away.   

Singh also stated, "During this calamity in the state, my government has done its best to provide immediate succor to affected regions and people. Funds to the tune of Rs 129.24 crore were released to various departments and the deputy commissioners to provide immediate relief and carry out restoration works. A detailed memorandum of losses seeking liberal financial support from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) has been submitted to the Centre and a central team for assessment of losses has already visited the state from July 23 to 25".

Countering Singh’s statement, opposition leader Prem Kumar Dhumal questioned over the ruling party’s capability in handling state. He also points that the state did not take immediate measures at the time of the floods and rain.
