Mars- New Hotspot for Indians to Settle Down?

"The final round will be over in 2014, when 20 to 40 candidates will be chosen and there is every possibility that Indians will make the grade," added Dogra.

The selected people are likely to go through eight years of intensive training at a Mars One facility before the final lists of settlers are announced. By 2015, Mars One will start training the crew. It will also launch two rovers in 2018, followed by an all-cargo mission in 2020 and the first one-way human flight in 2022. Their website asserted that it will provide inhabitants with water, food and oxygen by taking out resources from the red planet’s soil and atmosphere. Also, all mechanism required to complete the mission can be built by existing suppliers at present.
Mars One aims to fund the effort by telecasting every aspect of the mission that is from launch to landing to living on Mars.
For a country like India where city infrastructures in metros are falling apart, settling permanently in the red planet seems to be the best option for many Indians.
