LS Polls 2014: Here are the Prominent Winners

Sushma Swaraj: Senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj won Vidisha seat in Madhya Pradesh by a huge margin of over four lakh votes. Swaraj, a sitting MP, defeated Congress' Lakshman Singh. This senior leader secured 7,14,248 votes while Lakshman Singh, brother of Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh got 3,03,650 votes.

During campaigning Sushma said, "I am confident that the people of Vidisha will enhance my victory margin to over four lakh votes (this time) as I have shouldered my responsibility as an MP with full dedication and honesty," reports PTI.
Vidisha, which has traditionally been a BJP bastion, has elected in the past a number of stalwarts, which include Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rajmata Vijyaraje Scindia, Ramnath Goenka, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Raghavji.

Shashi Tharoor: Former Minister of state for human resource development Shashi Tharoor won the Thiravananthapuram Lok Sabha seat. He finally managed to defeat his main rival O Rajagopal of the Bharatiya Janata Party to the post. Tharoor's winning margin was, however, whittled down considerably from a staggering 99,998 votes in 2009 to a mere 14,501 this time.
