Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Begins, Devotees In High Spirits

“In India, there is a huge practice of going on pilgrimages. People from different states go on different kinds of pilgrimages, some long, some short. But we can say without doubt that out of all these pilgrimages, the most difficult pilgrimage is that of Kailash Mansarovar. Despite that with the light of hope, you all undertake that journey,” said Sushma Swaraj, Foreign Affairs Miniter, referring to the annual event of the yatra to the lake.

It’s worth noting that the route that leads to the lake and the yatra itself has safety concerns as the region has immense probability of natural disasters such as earthquake and landslides.

From the next year, said Swaraj, pilgrims could access the Chinese paths to reach to the Mount Kailash from the coming year. Apparently confident about her meeting with the Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, she asserted that the new route can be taken by the pilgrims to reach to the lake using cars.
