Indian Political Leaders Still in Bygone Era, Feel Cheap Food Available at 15

A taxi driver in Mumbai stated that he spends 50 everyday for his meal and mentions that even vada pav now cost 12. He further said that it was two decades back when the cost of meal was available at 12.The situation is no less different in Delhi and Kolkata where the rotis are now priced at 3 with a gravy and cost a minimum of 20.

The only reasonable meal available would be a small quantity of plain rice with daal and that also costs about 15 at the least, added a taxi driver. On the other hand, a meal comprising of non-vegetarian gravy and two rotis will be priced at not less than 20-25 even at the most affordable food outlets.

Congress leader Raj Babbar had expressed deep regret over his 12-meal remark and said, "If my statement has pained someone then I regret it. I was referring to the families below poverty line. Didn't intend to hurt party or others' sentiments," reported Hindustan Times.

While the nation continues to be marred by controversies, it is issues like these that need to be addressed as lakhs of people go without food in India everyday.
