IIMs Welcome More Talented Young Women In 2013

Jayadev M, Chairperson for admissions, at IIM-B was quoted saying "Women are moving beyond traditional domains such as academics and media as they see opportunities emerging even in sectors that are male-dominated," reported ET Bureau.

It was noted that at IIM-Calcutta the number of female candidates shortlisted has more than doubled from 170 to 395.

IIM-Calcutta is also giving three extra points out of 100 to female candidates in an effort to improve diversity. However, IIM-Bangalore and Ahmedabad have not increased the points, but have seen women shortlisted rise from 200 to 230 and 276 to 364 respectively.

The new IIMs like IIM-Rohtak, Kashipur and Udaipur are taking intensive efforts to draw talented young women into the final talent pool by adding weightage to diversity. IIM-Rohtak awards 30 additional marks to a girl student while Udaipur gives 15 marks and Kashipur gives 3 points.
