Banagalore based online travel agency redBus was founded in 2006 by Phanindra Sama, Sudhakar Pasupunuri, and Charan Padmaraju. The site allows customers to book bus tickets online in a location-independent manner. “We wanted to start an online booking format for buses and ‘Red’ was the only color which has the least chances of being mis-spelt. Had the name been ‘Yellow’ there would have been a confusion on how many ‘L’ are there, or ‘Blue’ or even ‘Green’ for that matters, there would be high chances of the name being typed-in wrong.  Thus we chose the name ‘red’ and added the ‘Bus’ to it to make ‘redBus’,” says Phanindra Sama, Co-Founder and CEO, redBus.in.
