Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based Person to Person (P2P) messaging portal Way2Sms.com has acquired 160by2.com, also a P2P messaging portal. With the acquisition, Way2Sms.com  plans to target a turnover of 60 crore in the financial year 2012-13.

Raju Vanapala, Founder & CEO, Way2Sms.com feels that the acquisition will not only broaden their consumer penetration to 33 million unique Internet users, but also give them access to 35 percent of the total Internet users in India. Since both the sites add close to a million new users every month, the acquisition would pave their way to the top among the Indian Internet companies.

Way2Sms.com was founded in December 2006 by Vanapala, and allows for free text messaging, chat, email, and social media alerts. The portal supports all mobile networks in India, both CDMA and GSM networks and allows user to send text messages of the size 160 characters. Using the portal’s service, users can chat on the lined accounts like Yahoo!, Gtalk, and Facebook. The site has been ranked 509th in the world with regards to the site traffic and 34th in India.

Wasy2Sms was founded as a part of the Way2Online venture, which also includes Way2Movies.com, Way2Loans.com, Way2Gamez.com by Vanapala, who pursued his MCA from Nagarjuna University. The site is visited by users from over 30 countries and adds around seven lakh new customers every month.

160by2.com was founded by Satya Kalyan Yerramasetti and Raju Kalluri in 2003 as a part of SMSCountry Networks. Though the company is headquartered in Hyderabad, it has offices in UAE, Singapore, and Hong Kong. The company serves various industries, ranging from Banking & Capital markets to retail, from Insurance to Government, and from Real Estate to Automobiles.

Apart from heading 160by2.com, Yerramasetti is also the President at YgoY. He was the Managing Director at SISRB Technologies and the Founder of Null2Full Solutions. He did his Master of Business Management, Operations from the University of Western Sydney and holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Vasavi College of Engineering, Osmania University.
