WatchGuard Launches Small Business Security Appliance

Fremont: Seattle-based Business security solutions provider, WatchGuard Technologies has launched a small business security appliance, WatchGuard XTM 330. The all-in-one rack-mount gateway security appliance provides advanced network protection and is ideal for businesses with 30 to 50 users.

The XTM 330 provides next-generation firewall and intrusion prevention capabilities, which allows customers to choose to add Application Control, Gateway Anti-virus, WebBlocker, spamBlocker, and WatchGuard’s context-aware, cloud-based security service, Reputation Enabled Defense.

XTM 330 has additional networking and VPN features, which allow for remote access, and is ideal for small businesses with remote or mobile workers. It also supports clientless single sign-on, ensuring simple and accurate authentication for user and group-based policies.

Talking about XTM 330, Tim Helming, Director of Product Management, WatchGuard Technologies, says, “Small businesses are increasingly becoming targets of hackers and sophisticated cyber attacks. The WatchGuard XTM 330 is easy to use and manage. The WatchGuard XTM 330 takes advantage of innovations from WatchGuard, including the ability to create highly secure virtual private network (VPN) tunnels for Apple iPad, iPhone and other iOS-based devices. This allows small businesses to provide complete protection, even for popular devices that employees bring into the office. Its advanced management and logging features provide management with easy to use reports; giving small businesses new insights as to web and application usage, as well as remediation abilities to enforce business and IT policies.

The reporting and management features of the WatchGuard XTM 330 makes for an ideal customer premise equipment (CPE) solution for managed security service providers (MSSPs).

The WatchGuard XTM 330 is available from authorized WatchGuard channel partners. At a list price, starting at $1,165 and varies depending on security services selected.

Previously, WatchGuard had filed for an IPO in 1999. The company was acquired for $151 million by Francisco Partners and Vector Capital and taken private in 2006.
