U.S. States Which Saw Maximum VC Deals

Fremont: U.S. saw over 3,051 companies raised a total of $30.6 billion in funds from venture capitalists in 2011, which broke the record set in 2007. 2010 had seen a total VC investment of $23.7 billion. The trend was similar for the venture capital firms too, with the funds reaching $8.1 billion in the first half of 2011 itself, which is a leap of 20 percent from that in the same period in 2010. Here are the states which saw a beeline of venture capitalists.

California

california, yume, virident, scalearc, internet, healthcare, mobile, telecomCalifornia saw a total $15.22 billion invested through 1239 VC deals in 2011. Few of the top deals included Kumar Ganapathy founded Virident ($21 million), Jayant Kadambi co-founded YuMe ($11.9 million), and Varun Singh founded ScaleArc ($5.33 million). The top sectors which saw majority VC deals were internet and healthcare, which grabbed 57 percent of the pie, followed by mobile and telecommunications, and energy & utilities. The seed and series A funds saw 45 percent of the deals, followed by series B rounds of fundings.
