Tech startups see high potential in education sector
Bangalore: Education sector is seen as a potential market by many startup companies especially, as the increase in GPRS usage and the entrance of 3G technology in India gives a boost to concepts like e-learning in the country. According to a report by CLSA Asia Pacific Market, the e-learning market size is estimated at 105 crore and is projected to grow to 1,092 crore by 2012.

"There is huge potential. There is lot of knowledge resource available here. People know what is e-learning now," says Murali Krishna, Product Manager, Libra Interactive. Libra interactive has launched a spoken English course online. This course helps customer to learn English from 10 different Indian languages. Libra also plans to introduce mobile based e-learning software and a mobile search engine in future. Students can use these features for quick access to information.

There are some new startup companies like Find Guru who are trying to make an online class room where you can get connected with teachers, attempt assignments and rent books as well. TABS Communication Solutions has launched a website called EduPeet, which reports the results of different examinations along with exam papers and online training. Students can attempt mock online tests as well as ask for guidance if needed with the help of these websites.

WandFlower Software is concentrating in mobile based e-learning software. They have tie ups with many content providers like Globarena and iPowerFour. Success Key, campus recruitment institute, uses the software to provide information to their students. "When we say solution what we provide is tools. Using the tools they can copyright the application generate the content and put it on either our server or their server. It is a java based application and it works on all mobile phones that support java," says Narayana Rao, Managing Director of Wandflower Software.

Besides e-learning, few companies are concentrating on management systems for schools and colleges. Kacper have made a product called School Management System, which helps to maintain attendance, conduct examination, time table, cafeteria activities, administration, reports, school fees and many other things. This software helps to manage school's database in an efficient way. Also, when it comes to education, one cannot forget cartoons.

According to the Education Franchising Report conducted by Asia's integrated Franchise consulting company and Indian Franchise Association, education is the second largest household expenditure after food. Schools and colleges are looking at various ways to enhance their reach and add value to the current academic system. This provides great opportunity for startup companies to integrate technology with education.

9: The US recall affects 2005-06 Avalon cars, 2004-06 Highlander (non Hybrid) and Lexus RX330 cars, and 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250, and IS350 cars,

according to the company's press release.
The recall also affects 33,000 cars in continental Europe, 60,000 in China, 30,000 in Australia and 50,000 in the rest of Asia.

Car-owners will be notified early in November, and the manufacturer will arrange for the brake master cylinder cup to be replaced with a

newly designed version.

The announcement follows more than 10 million car recalls by Toyota already in the past year, including 1.1 million Corolla and Matrix cars

in the US and Canada recalled in August because of potentially faulty engine control systems.

Toyota has now issued 14 recalls in 2010.

The carmaker was harshly criticised for not acting sooner over accelerator pedal recalls earlier this year, and was fined $16m by US

authorities.Women Nike Dunk High
