Kolkata: Asking the governments of India's eastern states to quickly prepare projects under the Second Green Revolution, union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said the central government can financially assist them only after they submit the project details. "In the first year (2010-11) we gave 300 crore and another 300 crore in the second year (2011-12). I am asking the states to quickly prepare the projects and send to us. Then we will be able to provide the assistance project-wise," Mukherjee told reporters on the sidelines of a programme organised by the Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC) here. "It is not the question of money, it is the question of availability of projects," he said. Mukherjee had announced the concept of a Second Green Revolution in the eastern states of the country, primarily aimed at boosting the cultivation of pulses, in his 2010 budget speech. The finance minister stated that in several long-term discussions with the state governments of eastern region, he asked them to formulate the projects. Prioritising the requirements for the Green Revolution, including setting up cold chains and rural infrastructure, Mukherjee said: "For that all the concerned state government will have to take the appropriate initiatives."
