Bangalore: The latest CEO to see the exit doors was HP's CEO Leo Apotheker. Many CEOs are not sticking around as long as they used to. A Research shows that the average tenure of a CEO is 6.6 years compared to 8.1 years which was a decade ago. The years are much lesser if he is an external hire which is around 4.1 years.
Here is the list of the high profile CEOs who made early exists for a greener pasture.

Oh you sure remember her! .The CEO who was fired over the phone. During her tenure at Yahoo, Carol made a lot of wrong business moves. She was vehemently criticized since she failed to revitalize the online media company. She made of number of mistakes like losing the top talent and key performers which became a major drawback to her tenure. Her delay in executing the fresh ideas made Yahoo to lose out with Microsoft and Hulu. Carol Bartz had given herself a B-minus in her first year as CEO of Yahoo.
