Sensex ends above 19500; RIL, ACC, RCom, Bharti gain
Mumbai: BSE, a benchmark index for Indian equities closed 177 points higher on Friday. Both funds and retail investors actively took long positions across the board. The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 19,555.05 points, ended at 19,594.75 points, 177.26 points or 0.91 percent up from its previous close at 19593.84 points. The 30-share index hit intraday high of 19639.18 and low of 19436.70. BSE Midcap Index was up 1.43 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index moved 0.97 per cent higher. Reliance Communications (5.09 percent), ACC (3.09 percent), Bharti Airtel (2.88 percent), Reliance Industries (2.45 percent) and Sterlite Industries (1.86 percent) were amongst the top Sensex gainers. Market breadth was positive on the BSE with 948 gainers against 398 losers. At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty closed 56.25 points or 5884.95 points higher.
